Valero Toastmasters

Welcome, we are the Valero Toastmasters Club.  We are a corporate club at Valero Energy Corporation located in San Antonio, Texas.

The mission of a Toastmasters club is to provide a mutually supportive and positive learning environment in which every member has the opportunity to develop communication and leadership skills, which in turn foster self-confidence and personal growth.”

This organization is designed to help Valero employees develop their public speaking skills and foster a means for personal and professional development in a comfortable and supportive environment.  Since our charter, in 2005, we have acheived many accolades. Most recently, in May 2008, Toastmasters International presented Valero Energy Corporation with its “Communication and Leadership Award” for outstanding service to the community, state, and industry through communication and leadership. Also notable, the Valero Toastmasters Club was awarded the “Select Distinguished Club” designation by Toastmasters International for 2007. Beyond these two grand tributes, the club has received “The Smedley Award” for excelling in the recruitment of new members twice, as well as, numerous individual accomplishment.

President’s Corner

I am both excited and honored to be your President. You have also elected a great board that is comprised of former board members and first timers that are going to be a treat to work with. I can tell you that they have hit the ground running and are already working on special events and educational meetings for this year. My personal goal is to earn my Competent Communicator award and to create an environment that will encourage you to as well. This can only be accomplished with your help. As the saying goes … “You can lead a horse to water, but, you can’t make him drink.” The horse will only drink if he is thirsty. How thirsty are you?
